Compass Backup & Restore™

Review the Compass information saved in this browser, create an encrypted backup, or safely inspect an existing backup file. Your saved work remains on this device unless you choose to create and save a backup file.

Separate, protected restore areas: Workspace, AI Platform, and Silver information are previewed and restored independently. You may add only missing information or use an authorized backup version after a safety checkpoint. Records are never merged or moved between platforms.

Your Backup Password cannot be recovered. Keep it somewhere safe and separate from the backup file. The Rebuilding Compass does not receive your password or the contents of your encrypted backup.

Use the current page to restore Silver. Older v2.8 pages cannot restore Silver. Legacy-only backups exclude Silver and remain usable with v2.8.

Create a private backup file containing the Compass work saved in this browser. Creating a backup will not erase or change your saved work.

This browser will remember your selection. Use a device name—not an email address.

Use at least 8 characters. You will need this password whenever you open or restore this backup.

On supported computers, a Save As window will open so you can choose the folder. If your browser does not offer this option, the file will go to your Downloads folder.

Your backup is protected before it leaves this page. Your password is not included in the file and is not sent to The Rebuilding Compass.

Technical Security Information

The backup uses AES-256-GCM encryption and PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA-256 password protection. Encryption takes place in this browser.

These exact storage keys are shown only for troubleshooting and support. Private answers are never displayed here.

What happens to unknown or historical records?

Recognized historical Financial Accounts records and additional trc_ccr_* records are preserved in a quarantine category. They can be encrypted into the backup, but this page will not transform or restore them. Other unregistered Compass-looking keys are reported but not silently included.

Choose the platform you use, select your backup file, and enter its password. Verification compares the backup with this browser. It does not restore or change your saved work.

Choose the platform where you entered your information. A backup may contain several platforms; only the selected platform’s restore controls will appear. This choice does not change the checkboxes used to create a backup above.

Enter the password you chose when you created this backup file. Your member-login password will work only if you deliberately chose the same password for the backup. If your browser fills this box automatically, delete that entry and type the backup file’s password.
