Program Overview
The Mediation & Mitigation Solutions Certification Program prepares you to work confidently, ethically, and effectively in real-world conflict situations — whether you're pursuing the Certified Family & Conflict Mediator path or the Certified Conflict & Recovery Coach path.
What This Certification Covers
Both certification paths follow the same three-stage structure — with specific tools, case examples, and skillsets tailored to either mediation or coaching. You’ll learn how to work with conflict, communication breakdowns, emotional overwhelm, and high-conflict personalities while staying within ethical boundaries.
- How conflict works in real families (not just theory)
- How to guide conversations without taking over
- How to support people in crisis or emotional overload
- How to stay neutral (Mediator path)
- How to stay in your lane (Coach path)
- How to build clarity, structure, and next steps with clients
Everything you learn connects directly to the work you’ll be doing — whether structure-focused (mediation) or support-focused (coaching).
Program Structure
Module 1: Foundations
You begin with the core principles: what your role is — and what it isn’t. This section lays the groundwork so you know how to stay effective, ethical, and confident.
- The role of a mediator or coach
- Understanding high-conflict personalities
- Basic nervous system responses (fight/flight/freeze)
- How to structure a conversation from chaos to clarity
- What neutrality or “staying in your lane” actually means
Module 2: Skills Training & Practice Lab
This is where you practice — through scripts, case examples, and role-play scenarios based on real situations families face.
- Role-play labs for real conflict situations
- How to redirect conversations without overpowering people
- How to de-escalate when emotions spike
- How to keep sessions on track
- How to respond when someone freezes, cries, shuts down, or explodes
Module 3: Certification & Professional Practice
Once you've learned and practiced the core framework, you’ll complete a certification checklist and build the materials you'll use as a professional.
- Certification requirements
- Professional ethics and scope of practice
- Provider packet (intake, agreements, boundaries)
- Client session structure and documentation
- How to present yourself professionally
Note: The Mediator and Coach paths share the same structure but contain different tools, scripts, scenarios, and competencies.
Certification Requirements
You do not need a degree, license, or prior experience. What matters most is your commitment to learning the framework and your ability to stay within your scope of practice.
